The Welsh Highland Railway

Situated in North Wales, the Welsh Highland Railway (WHR) is a 2ft gauge railway, or rather 1ft 11½in (597mm) gauge to be precise, that runs from Caernarfon to Porthmadog. At Porthmadog the Welsh Highland connects to the Ffestiniog Railway (FR) where it continues to Blaenau Ffestiniog. The NG15 №134 locomotive is owned by the Ffestiniog Railway Company that operates both railways and when restored it will be used on the WHR section.

As this website is primarily directed at the restoration of the locomotive if you require to find out more about the WHR more comprehensive details about its rebuilding, its operation and its heritage can be found through the links above right.
