The loco frames on the move. After the tender was pulled out of the goods shed and put in the siding (behind the boiler on the left) the frames were pulled and all bearings given a good oil.

Ar part of the exercise we also looked at a possible drain-cock diffuser arrangement. an empty can of Pringles came in very useful to examing the space available!

We started to look at what was needed to refit the front steps. This view also shows off the nice lines of the new running plate.

At Boston Lodge patterns are being made to cast new rear boiler support brackets. The originals are on the left and were badly wasted, together with the platework in that area. This is the area where the foundation ring was also wasted and from where it is thought the boiler was leaking into the fire that resulted in the withdrawal of the loco.

Three blowdown valves have been refurbished for us by Andy Bird at Dinas. We'll only need two so the other will be a usefull spare.
